Description |
In the early 90s, the Tyler Museum of Art had an exhibition of Alfred Durante's photographic series titled "The Texas Series: Photographs by Alfred Durante". This exhibition presented different views of Texas architecture and landscapes, emphasizing the temporary nature of buildings, despite their supposed permanence. Many of Durante's subjects are of older buildings that either closed down or are in disrepair. Some of the buildings may still be standing, but many have been transformed and renovated, or demolished entirely. This photograph was taken by Alfred Durante in 1990. It depicts the wall of the Rangerette Showcase and Museum, which is part of Kilgore College. On the wall is the image of a Rangerette, the words "Home of the Rangerettes" around her. The Rangerettes are a world famous drill team that was established in the 1940s. In the foreground there are several vehicles parked outside of the building. |
