Description |
23 of 61 in Progressive Proof Series Wayne Kimball (1943) is a printmaker and professor of the fine arts. Kimball's artworks are all done using the lithograph printing process due to the media's intense color combinations, wash-like textures, and crayon tones. His art is small in size allowing him to work more intimately with his pieces and include intricate details, some with symbolic meaning. Kimball's artworks are meant to be seen with the viewer in mind and thus are devoid of concrete ideas, focusing more on conceptual thought. He leaves his work open-ended so that the viewer can interpret the meaning behind the work themselves. His work is influenced by Northern Renaissance paintings, Islamic and Indian structures, and Medieval imagery. This print is a combination of different layered prints for "A Portrayal of Its Maker (series of 61 prints)". This print is a continuation of print layer twenty with the additions from layer twenty two. The floor is now colored in a brown gradient of dark to light. It connects to the wall trim and wallpaper of multiple colors and creates a resting space for the eyes. The white outline of the chair, one fire poker, and leafy plant are still devoid of color. The man's head and one fire poker are now colored in with a soft brown and light blue. The previously yellow circle above the pink scroll has a soft brown overlay. The rest of the print stayed the same from layer twenty. |
