Description |
From Wildlife series Landscape photograph depicting a downtown setting in a small town. Far in the background stands an American Bank building at the left of the picture plane as well as a church steeple to the right of the picture plane. In the midground stands a large city government building. Separating the midground and the foreground is a road. In the foreground is a parking lot entrance, with a callbox to get a ticket, and two defunct automated gates that would raise or lower to allow entry. The crossbeams of the gates are gone, the callbox bent on its stand. To the left of the picture plane sits a large Jackrabbit with a historical marker next to it. Skeet McAuley (1951) attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, earning his BA in 1976. Two years later he received his MFA from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. By 1980, McAuley was showing his photographs professionally. He was awarded two National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artists Fellowships, one in 1984 and the second in 1986. In 1988 he received a Polaroid Artist Support Grant: Polaroid Corporation. |
