Description |
One of a series of collages titled "Ghosts of the Old Mississippi", this piece depicts a map section of the Mississippi River. The different colors of the river represent how the river itself has shifted and changed over the course of many years. Ward uses collage to layer iconography from each region, as if the piece is a scrapbook of the river's history. This piece covers the section of river that runs through Baton Rouge and Donaldsonville. This piece was included in the 2019 exhibition "Floating Life", which featured most of the "Ghosts of the Old Mississippi" series, as well as other works by Liz Ward. |
