Description |
Texas landscape with creek running through a partially forested area. Peter Hohnstedt received his early art training from Frank Duveneck in Hohnstedt's home town of Cincinnati, Ohio. Around 1914, Hohnstedt moved to New Orleans, where he was asked to do a painting for the Delgado Museum. As a result of this commission, a benefactor allowed Hohnstedt room on their yacht so the artist could find greater opportunity to visit and study the swamp areas of Louisiana. Hohnstedt and artist Clarence Millet painted together in Louisiana and Mississippi. In 1928, Hohnstedt moved to Comfort, Texas and opened his studio in downtown Comfort to the public. The many beautiful surrounding of Comfort, Texas in the heart of the Hill Country are the usual subjects of Hohnstedt's works. |
