Description |
Stylized acrylic painting of a fruit stand in East Texas. The fruit stand is on the side of the road and there is the end of a blue car speeding off at the bottom right corner. The grass is a consistent green and there is a tall, dark tree towering over the stand to the left. There is a barrel that reads "pecans" leaning against the tree. The fruit stand itself has yellow and red flag along it's roof, as well as a big neon arrow sign, pointing to itself. The wall below the arrow reads, "Peaches, Texas, Honey." The stand has a white awning, shading the employee inside. The man has a maroon hat on and stand with his arms crossed. Above him is a sign reading "Homegrown," framed by two light bulbs on either side of it. There are varius wares (peaches, honey) on shelves at the front of the stand as well as more words reading "Peanuts, Honey" below the employee's perch. The sky is a light blue with one dark cloud traveling from the right to left. Jon Flaming (1962) graduated from Texas State University in 1985 with a design degree. Flaming ran a design and branding firm, creating advertisements for clients including Neiman Marcus, American Airlines, and FedEx. Influenced by the rich history and culture of Texas, Flaming brings a unique perspective to traditional western art, reimagining iconic cowboy imagery in a bold and expressive style. |
