Description |
Oil painting depicting orange and red flowers in a Maxwell House coffee tin on a windowsill with a body of water in the background, seen through a window. Two small oranges and a knife sit on the windowsill either side of the coffee tin. Through the window, a still body of water is seen with the moon reflecting off of the water's surface. Trees sprout up from the horizon line with dark black clouds in the sky above them. Artist David Bates' artistic style could be described as sophisticated primitivism, using as his subjects neighbors, friends, wildlife and plant life found near his home at Grassy Lake and along the Gulf Coast. |
