Description |
Male musician figurines meant to hold candlesticks, likely meant as colorful decor. All of the figures are playing different instruments such as guitars, saxophones, drums and horns. All pieces have a red, yellow, and white color scheme. San Martín Huaquechula, Puebla, Mexico Ignacio (Nachito) Peralta Soledad (1953-2024) was a Mexican potter known for the creation of candlesticks and incense burners made of molded and polychrome clay, which are fundamental objects in the celebration of the faithful departed, better known as "Day of the Dead." Thanks to his multiple awards (first place in the "Candeleros y Candelabros Poblanos", first place in the second contest of artisans and crafts by FONAR, and won the second state handicrafts competition organized by the National Fund for the Promotion of Handicrafts and the Institute of Popular Handicrafts and Industries of the State of Puebla) Ignacio Peralta Soledad earned recognition for being part of the book "Grandes Maestros del Arte Popular Mexicano" (Great Masters of Mexican Popular Art), published by Fomento Cultural Banamex in 1998. |
