Description |
Acrylic on canvas of two young children at a table during a tarot reading. The closer figure, with his back to the viewer, has a red cloak around his shoulders and is holding the tarot card. The card is The Fool, which is meant to represent new beginnings, faith in the future, being inexperienced, beginners luck, and improvisation. Across the table, the other figure sits in a loose, blue shirt with a somewhat confused expression, one arm on the table. Two tall candle sticks with short, thick candles sit between them on the table, with small flames blowing to the side. Light pours in from the left side of the scene, seemingly from a window. Artist Phillip Wade has a wide variety of subjects in his art, including animal and human portraits, landscapes, and large story-telling paintings. Wade studied under Bob Levers and Kelly Fearing and now paints and teaches out of his Old West Austin studio. |
