Description |
This is a lithograph with the title "America - RFD". There are two mailboxes in the foreground, one mailbox has R.M. Lomn on the side. In the background there are two automobiles, the vehicle on right has the trunk open where as the one on the left doesn't. There are electric cables in the midground and a wire fence that begins at one end and stretches to the far left. Coreen Mary Spellman (1905-1978) was born in Forney, Texas and attended the College of Industrial Arts. Spellman was a teacher, painter, designer, illustrator, lithographer and muralist. In her biography she states the following "I enjoy taking some rather obscure or unimportant subject or theme and making something fine and important out of it . . . It always gives me great pleasure to discover something which has been passed over as being inadequate material". |
