Description |
Acrylic on wood panel- right piece 3 of 3 components John Hernandez (1952) is well known for his sculptural work featuring bright and bold colors. Herniate has dabbled in a variety of mediums including sculpture, painting, and illustration. His work often showcases popular culture and recognizable images in fractured and conjoined settings. Topics such as fame, power, greed, violence, and narcissism reappear throughout his sculptures using pop references to get his meaning across to the viewer. This structure is one of three pieces apart of a bigger installation called "Big Daddy, Dream Glass". This piece is centered slightly down and to the right of the main image. A light green lily pad can be seen with a red water lily on it's surface. A smaller lily pad is connected to the bigger lily pad with the flower atop it. Both the flower and lily pads have darker outlines in their respective colors. A small black heart is in the middle of three dark green lines on the smaller lily pad. The heart is upside down and has a white shine to it's surface. Light blue markings can be seen through the lily pad's surface as well. Lastly, inside the lower left petal of the water lily, a golden row of teeth are clenched within the petal. |
