Description |
From the series, The Blue Man. These works explore rural life in deep East Texas along the border with Louisiana. Carter began working on the Blue Man series in 1986. The artist stated in an inerview with Anne Tucker, Curator of Photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: "...In my region, there's a lot to me that is deeply moving. There are an extraordinary number of people who have these great lives of the spirit. They work hard to make their lives interesting. This series is about those people, it's about the animals they live with, the gardens they have, how they spend their time. It's about imagination in the boondocks..." Photograph of an older man dressed in overalls, sitting in front of a white fence. In his lap are held two small baby deer. |
