Description |
Watercolor landscape of a field of blue bonnets with trees on either side and landscape in the background. Tall, pale wildflowers stick out among the bluebonnets, and a curved dirt trail parts the flowers. Artist Julian Onderdonk was taught first by his father, Robert Onderdonk, and then by American Impressionist William Merritt Chase. After spending a few years under William Merritt Chase's tutelage, Onderdonk moved to New York before ultimately returning to San Antonio in 1909. Onderdonk's most popular subjects were bluebonnet landscapes. |
